-- The University of Cincinnati men's cross country program has been named an All-Academic Cross Country Team by the United States Cross Country Coaches Association. The Bearcats were one of just 35 teams nationally to be awarded such an honor.
"Excellence in academics as well as athletics is why we are here," head coach Bill Schnier said. "We just did our job."
The USCCCA awards teams with GPAs of 3.0 or higher with All-Academic Team awards, while recognizing teams that posted GPAs of 3.25 or higher with All-Academic Team, With Distinction honors.
The Bearcats ranked 41st of over 300 teams in the nation with a 3.15 team grade point average. UC was one of just three BIG EAST schools to be honored by the USCCCA, ranking behind only Notre Dame (3.22). (3.05) was the third recipient.
Several local schools also earned All-Academic Team Awards. (3.46), (3.25) and (3.25) each earned All-Academic Team, With Distinction honors, while (3.22) and () (3.15) were named All-Academic Team recipients.
