PROVIDENCE, R.I.---After a monster offensive weekend against Oakland, University of Cincinnati senior Logan Parker has been named the BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week for the week ending on March 19. In addition, classmate Jon DeLuca earned a spot on the five-member BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
Parker helped the Bearcats to a sweep of the Grizzlies by hitting .462 (6 for 13), with all but one of his hits going for extra-bases. The Odessa, Texas native ripped three home runs in the series, including a pair of three-run shots in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader. He also drove in seven runs in the opener and 11 during the three-game set. Parker slugged an incredible 1.385 in the series, while scoring six runs, walking four times and stealing two bases.
DeLuca also enjoyed an outstanding performance as he hit .800 (8 for 10) for the series, including the first five-hit game of his career in the series opener. The senior from Columbus, Ohio recorded a pair of doubles and his first career triple, while also tallying four RBI and scoring seven runs.
The Bearcats extended their winning streak to seven games with the weekend sweep to up their record to 13-6, the program's best start since the 2001 season.
