Like a lot of college students, the University of Cincinnati men's soccer team has traveled to Florida for spring break. Unlike most college students, the Bearcats are preparing for the upcoming fall season with two-a-day training sessions and matches against the U.S. U-17 National Team, Central Florida, and Rollins College. Over the next six days, the UC players will share their experiences through the UC Soccer Spring Break Diaries. The first entry is submitted by senior goalkeeper Mike Vessells.

Our day started out with breakfast in Kwame's room and then training 30 yards from the front of our hotel. The weather was a pleasant change for all of us. Eighty degrees and cloudy made for the perfect training weather. After training we got ready and headed to the beach. We made a stop at the senior's choice, Arby's. Everyone was very thrilled to get away from soccer for a few hours and have another type of fun. Some of us played 500 in the water, and others took a walk down the beach to see the attractions. We stayed at the beach for an hour and a half then headed back to the hotel for the second training of the day. The weather was cooler and everyone was a little burnt and tired from the sun and waves at the beach. The training was short-only an hour and fifteen minutes-but there was a sense of competition out there and everyone was playing very hard. I think that the change in weather does a lot for the morale of a team. After training we headed to Carrabbas for a nice Italian dinner. It was senior day to choose the meal so Kwame, Sam, Dwyer, John-Michael, Kidus, Omar, and I got to choose where we ate. Of course we were going to pick Carrabbas, the nicest of the Italian restaurants on the block. Why not? After all it is spring break.
