CINCINNATI, Ohio -- University of Cincinnati head football coach Mark Dantonio has added another standout student-athlete to the 2006 recruiting class as Reggie Fugett of Baltimore, Md. has signed a national letter of intent with the Bearcats. He will join the team this fall as an incoming freshman.

The 6-6, 250-pound Fugett played both tight end and defensive end at the Gilman School in Baltimore. He is the son of former Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins tight end Jean Fugett, who played eight years in the NFL and was a Pro Bowl selection in 1977 with the Redskins.

"We are excited about being able to get a player of Reggie's quality this late in the recruiting year," said Dantonio. "He is an outstanding athlete and student, who has incredible potential. He can play a couple different positions, but I think we will start him off at tight end and continue to strengthen an already deep position on our team."

Fugett was a two-way player and helped the Gilman School to a perfect 9-0 record last season under head coach Biff Poggi, however, his senior year got off to a slow start as he battled mononucleosis. When he returned later in the season, Fugett excelled and became a productive performer.

A three-sport standout at Gilman, Fugett was recently named first team All-MIAA as a center in basketball, and is preparing for the baseball season this spring, where he is a standout performer.

Last year, Fugett had a breakout performance in the Maryland-Virginia All-Star football game while playing defensive end. Fugett recorded eight tackles, including two and half sacks, and also had a pass breakup.
