SETTING THE SCENE: The University of Cincinnati women's golf team concludes a busy week, hosting its second of three tournament this season, with the playing of the UC Women's Spring Invitational this weekend. The event will be played on March 24-25 at the Plantation Inn Golf Course in Crystal River, Fla. UC will be out to improve upon its 10th place finish from the Lady Herd/El Diablo Intercollegiate, played earlier this week.

ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT: The 36-hole, two-day UC Women's Spring Invitational will take place on March 24-25 at the Plantation Inn Golf Course in Crystal River, Fla. UC will battle a tournament field that consists of Illinois, Marshall, UAB and Wichita State at the event. Both Marshall and Wichita State joined the Bearcats earlier this week in the Lady Herd/El Diablo Intercollegiate. Each day of play will consist of 18 holes, with action starting at 1 p.m. on Friday and 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT: Chelsa Dooley fired a final round 76 and Allison Mayborg shot a 79, helping the Bearcats jump to 10th in the final rundown at the Lady Herd/El Diablo Intercollegiate. Dooley recovered from a second round score of 92 to jump 20 spots on the final day of play, finishing the 54-hole event tied for 32nd at 245. Mayborg also finished tied for 32nd, as both players totaled 245 for the tournament.

Maryland won the team title with a final score of 916, nine shots better than second-place Florida Atlantic. UC trailed ninth place Xavier by just one stroke, shooting a final round 322 to end the event at 984. June Bolme of Florida Atlantic shot a final round 72 to win individual medalist honors with a total of 220.

WHERE SHE LEFT OFF: Hillery Wilson closed the first half of the 2005-06 season playing the best golf of her collegiate career as the sophomore won three of the final four tournaments of the fall schedule. Wilson was at her best at the Dayton Fall Invitational on Oct. 31, 2005 as her round of 69 was the lowest ever recorded by a UC golfer, breaking Shelley Jonda's mark by two strokes. Wilson, a member of the Conference USA All-Freshman Team last season, also captured medalist honors at the Krump Kup and the Cincinnati Fall Classic to give her four tournament wins for her career. She added a second place finish at the Unlimited Potential/Bay Tree Classic. Wilson leads the Bearcats with a 76.4 average and is shooting 77.4 for her career.
