AUSTIN, Texas - The Bearcat rowing team struggled in its spring season opener Saturday in Austin against the host-team University of Texas and Kansas University. The Texas Longhorns swept each of the races, with Kansas finishing second.
Despite taking third in each of the races in which it entered, Cincinnati provided tough competition in the first varsity four. The Bearcats (8:28.7) finished just two seconds behind Kansas (8:26.1). Unfortunately, Texas was too strong for either of its competitors' boats, finishing in 8:06.2.
Cincinnati's second varsity eight shared a similar fate, concluding the race in 7:38.2, again just two seconds behind Kansas (7:36.9).
The Bearcats will travel next to Bloomington, Ind. where it will face off against Indiana University, Eastern Michigan University, and the University of Dayton on Sunday, April 2.
