CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The University of Cincinnati will begin spring football practice on Tuesday, March 28 with a 2:30 p.m. workout in Nippert Stadium, and conclude the spring with the annual Red-Black game on Saturday, April 22.
UC third-year head coach Mark Dantonio welcomes back 47 lettermen and starters at 17 positions as the Bearcats begin preparations for their second season in the BIG EAST Conference. Practice sessions will be on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons, plus a Saturday morning practice the first two weeks of spring drills. The practices will move to Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons for the last two weeks of spring.
"I am excited to get going on Tuesday and see where we are in terms of our conditioning and our attitude," Dantonio said. "We are still a very young football team, but last year a lot of our guys were getting at this for the first time. Now a lot of our players are a year older and we are looking forward to having a productive spring in preparation for a successful 2006 season."
Weekday practices are scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m., with the Saturday sessions slated to begin at 11 a.m.
The spring game on April 22 will start at 1 p.m. in Nippert Stadium, and will culminate the annual Football Lettermen's Weekend. The 12th annual event will begin with a golf outing at Pebble Creek Golf Course on Friday, April 21. The Bearcat Pig Roast dinner on Friday evening will feature a reunion of the 1981 UC football team.
