SETTING THE SCENE: The University of Cincinnati rowing team will travel to Bloomington, Ind. on Saturday, April 1. The Bearcats will face off against Indiana University, Eastern Michigan University, and the University of Dayton on the Hoosiers' Lake Lemon.

LAST OUTING: The Bearcats got off to a rocky start in their first outing of the spring on March 25 taking third place against the host-team University of Texas and the University of Kansas. The first novice four and second varsity eight boats provided the most competition. Each boat finished just two seconds behind second-place Kansas.

THE COMPETITION: In its last outing, Indiana fell to nationally-ranked Michigan State in a Big Ten Conference match-up. The Hoosiers' lone victory came in the second novice eight race in which they finished 10 seconds ahead of the Michigan State boat.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles also faced a tough Notre Dame team when it competed at the Lubbers Cup in Grand Rapids, Mich. last weekend. Despite taking a win in the freshman novice four, EMU was unable to upset the Irish and defend its Lubbers Cup title.

Dayton had more luck in its head-to-head match-up against Duquesne in its last outing. The Flyers earned wins in four of five races, giving the team its first regatta victory of the spring.

CONFERENCE MEMBERS: For the first time in the history of the program, the Bearcats are a member of a conference as, unlike Conference USA, the BIG EAST sponsors rowing. UC's first-ever BIG EAST Championships will beheld April 30 in Worchester, Mass.

UP NEXT: The Bearcats will compete next at the Southern Intercollegiate Regatta. Starting on Saturday, April 15, the two-day event will take place on Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
