BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The University of Cincinnati rowing team excelled against some solid competition today on Lake Lemon in Bloomington, Ind. The Bearcats took second place in four of their five races against Indiana University, the University of Dayton, and Eastern Michigan University.

Cincinnati head coach Pam Mork was pleased with the Bearcats' performance this weekend. "I thought our intensity was much better this week, which equaled better results."

Cincinnati (7:07.6) nearly captured the win in the second varsity eight race, finishing just seconds behind the squad from Eastern Michigan (7:03.6). The second varsity four race was equally tight. Eastern Michigan (8:10.1) again earned the close win over the Bearcats (8:17.3).

The Bearcats saw success in the first varsity eight race despite finishing at the back of the pack. The boat's time of 7:00.7 was forty seconds faster this week than in Texas on March 25. "We raced much better this week, but we still have areas where we need to improve," said Mork.

UC will have another chance to show its improvement next weekend when they race at the Southern Intercollegiate Regatta in Oak Ridge, Tenn. on April 15 and 16.
