SETTING THE SCENE: Cincinnati will compete in its first-ever BIG EAST Championship, as the 2006 edition of the event gets underway on Monday, April 24. Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club is the host course with the event, with South Florida entertaining the field of seven squads. The 54-hole, two-day event will begin at 7:30 a.m. each day.

ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT: The 2006 BIG EAST Women's Golf Championship will be played at the Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club in Lake Jovita, Fla. Cincinnati, along with BIG EAST newcomers Louisville and USF, are part of the seven-team field that also includes Georgetown, Notre Dame, Rutgers and St. John's. Prior to the tournament, a committee of BIG EAST coaches and conference administrators seeded the seven squads with Cincinnati drawing the sixth seed and Notre Dame taking the top spot. A total of 54 holes will be played over two days to determine the team and individual champions. The top-seven finishers in the event will make up the 2006 BIG EAST All-Conference Team.

LAST TIME OUT: Hillery Wilson posted her ninth top-10 finish of the year, helping the Bearcats to a sixth place finish at the Illini Spring Classic. Wilson carded a final round 75 to end the tournament tied for sixth with a score of 151. The sophomore finished just one shot out of the top-five and five strokes behind individual medalist Cathryn Bristow of Oregon. The team standings showed Oregon on top by five strokes over Michigan with a final score of 610. Cincinnati's final tally of 625 took sixth place, five shots behind Indiana. In the individual standings, both Allison Mayborg and Marianne Erb shot final round 78's for the Bearcats. Mayborg finished tied for 23rd, while Erb was tied for 26th.

ENJOYING A GREAT YEAR: Hillery Wilson has enjoyed one of the best seasons ever by a UC women's golfer, having won four of her last nine tournaments, while adding a pair of runner-up finishes during the span. The sophomore was at her best at the Dayton Fall Invitational on Oct. 31, 2005 as her round of 69 was the lowest ever recorded by a UC golfer, breaking Shelley Jonda's mark by two strokes. Wilson, a member of the Conference USA All-Freshman Team last season, has also captured medalist honors at the Krump Kup, the Cincinnati Fall Classic and, most recently, the Big River Telephone Classic to give her five tournament wins for her career. Wilson leads the Bearcats with a 76.6 average and is shooting 77.4 for her career. Her play has also helped UC to team victories at the Krump Kup, the Dayton Fall Invitational and the Big River Telephone Classic.
