SHAMOKIN DAM, Pa. - The University of Cincinnati rowing team struggled against Bucknell and BIG EAST conference foe West Virginia on Saturday on the Susquehanna River.  The Bearcats earned a win in the novice eight race, but finished third in their four other races.

In their only win of the day, UC's novice eight boat recorded a time of 8:50.71.  The finish put them ahead of the host-team Bucknell, which posted a 9:03.66 finish.  The Cincinnati squad was made of coxswain Allison Lemaster, Anna Muller, Kelly Camp, Elizabeth Nocheck, Candice DeCree, Kara Koch, Stephanie Celek, Leigh Smith, and Nicole Merz.

Bucknell took first place in each of the four remaining races, including a convincing win in the varsity eight race over second-place West Virginia. 

The Bearcats head to Worcester, Mass. next weekend for their first appearance at the BIG EAST Championships.  The regatta is scheduled for Sunday, April 30 on Lake Quinsigamond.
