Day One Results

LAKE JOVITA, Fla.---Junior Sarah Bires is one of three Cincinnati players in the top-15 as the Bearcats completed the opening round of play at their first-ever BIG EAST Championship in fifth place overall. Through 36 holes, the Bearcats are just five strokes out of fourth place.

Bires has been the surprise of the tournament for the Bearcats thus far, shooting two of her best rounds of the year, 77 and 78, to sit tied for 13th. Freshman Chelsa Dooley and sophomore Allison Mayborg are just a single stroke behind Bires, tied for 15th with scores of 156. Dooley shot rounds of 76 and 80, while Mayborg carded back-to-back 78's.

UC's top player, sophomore Hillery Wilson opened play with a disappointing score of 83, but bounced back with a 77 to rank 27th.

The team standings show Louisville with a comfortable 13-shot lead over Georgetown. The Cardinals also boast all three of the top players, led by first place Adrienne White (74-69--163).

Play concludes at the Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club with the final 18 holes on Tuesday. Play gets underway at 7:30 a.m.
