CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Tim Crowell, a first team all-conference selection in the competitive Western Junior College Athletic Conference, has signed a national letter-of-intent to continue his basketball and academic careers at the University of Cincinnati.

Crowell, a 6-2 point guard from Albuquerque, N.M., averaged 11.0 points and a league-leading 7.5 assists at Midland (Texas) College this past season. He also averaged 4.2 rebounds and 3.0 steals while leading the school to a 27-6 record and the championship game of the NJCAA Region V Tournament.

"Crow is a pure point guard who has great speed with the ball," stated UC head coach Mick Cronin. "He has tremendous leadership skills, which are very important to me and is something our team needs.

"Timmy and I are on the same page on and off the floor already as far as working hard to achieve success," Cronin added. "He can score but is a guy who wants to make plays for his teammates. What excites me most is his tenacity and competitiveness on defense. Crow is a winner and we are excited he is on board."

Crowell is the fourth member of Cincinnati's recruiting class. The Bearcats previously secured the commitments of Marvin Gentry, a 6-3 guard who was the conference's player of the year at McLennan Community College; Jamual Warren, an NJCAA second team All-American at the Globe Institute of Technology; and John Williamson, a 6-6 forward who was a first team All-American selection at Cincinnati State.
