LAKE JOVITA, Fla.---The University of Cincinnati women's golf team completed its 2005-06 season with a fifth place finish in the 2006 BIG EAST Championship which concluded on Tuesday at the Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club. Sophomore Allison Mayborg was UC's top finisher, tying for 13th overall.
The Bearcats saved their best round for last, combining for a 310 in the final 18 holes to finish at 935. Louisville won the team title by a convincing 21 shots over Georgetown with a team total of 889.
Individually, it was Mayborg shooting a final round 75 to end the tournament at 231. Teammates Chelsa Dooley and Hillery Wilson were just three shots back of Mayborg, in a tie for 16th. Dooley shot a final round 78, while Wilson was at a UC tournament-best 74.
The tournament wraps up one of the most successful seasons in recent memory for the UC Women's Golf Team. The Bearcats won three tournament titles as a team, while Wilson was the medalist on four separate occasions.
