CINCINNATI, Ohio - Head football coach Mark Dantonio has added another standout student-athlete to the 2006 recruiting class as Lance Jeter of Beaver Falls, Pa. has signed an offer of financial aid to attend the University of Cincinnati on a football scholarship. He will join the team as a wide receiver this fall as an incoming freshman.

The 6-3, 215-pound Jeter earned first team All-State honors in in both football and basketball at . Jeter had gone back and forth for months on whether to play Division I football or basketball before deciding to sign with the Bearcat football program.

"We are excited about getting a player like Lance to join our program. He went back and forth on which sport to play, but decided on football after the signing date and we are pleased that he will be in the fold this coming season," said Dantonio. "I really like what I see in him and so do all of our coaches."

In football, Jeter played both ways, but really stood out as a receiver. Last season, he caught 50 passes for 810 yards and scored 15 total touchdowns. Jeter also played running back on offense, and cornerback and safety on defense.

Jeter has been invited to play in the prestigious Big 33 Football Classic this summer, which pits the top 33 players from against the top 33 preps from .

In basketball, Jeter was a two-time first team All-State honoree. As a junior, he averaged 20.4 points and led Beaver Falls High to the Class AA state championship. This past year, he capped his senior season by leading his team to a 27-5 record and back to the state championship game, where BFHS lost.

Jeter, who scored 2,243 points at Beaver Falls High as a four-year starter, averaged 19.5 points last season and was entertaining a basketball scholarship offer from before deciding on playing football at UC.

"Lance is an outstanding athlete with great skills at the wide receiver position. He should challenge for playing time this fall and has the chance to be a playmaker for us at UC," Dantonio added.

Jeter comes from an athletic family, as well. His mother, Joy, was a member of the 1987 women's basketball team that won the Division II national championship.
