OXFORD, Ohio---Hillery Wilson opened the UC/UD Women's Invitational with a round of 80 to secure second place after one day of play. The event is being played at the Hueston Woods Golf Course, just outside of Oxford. Wilson's round leaves the Bearcats in second place in the team standings with 18 holes to play.
Butler's Lynnsey Showers played through high winds, rain and cold temperatures to shoot a 75 on Monday and hold the lead in the race for medalist honors. Wilson is joined in the top five by freshman Marianne Erb who is tied for third after a score of 82. Sophomore Allison Mayborg also finds herself in the top-10, holding a tie for ninth after a day one 84.
The team standings show Butler on top after a day one score of 322, 11 better than the Bearcats. Dayton is third at 345, with IPFW just one shot out of the top three. UC's "B" squad ranks seventh with a score of 368.
Play concludes on Tuesday with the women's action getting underway at 8:32 a.m.
