CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Darren Savino, who served as assistant basketball coach at Murray State the past two years, has been named assistant coach at the University of Cincinnati.
A veteran of 11 years in the college ranks, Savino joins Larry Davis and Chris Goggin, who were previously named associate head coach and assistant coach, and Matt Grady, appointed director of basketball operations, on head coach Mick Cronin's staff.
"I have known Darren for a long time, and worked with him the past two years at Murray State, and I know he is a great addition to our staff," stated Cronin. "He knows basketball inside and out and he brings tireless effort and energy to recruiting."
Savino previously served as an assistant at Quinnipiac for two seasons. His coaching resume also includes stops at New Mexico, East Carolina, St. John's and Seton Hall.
A 1994 graduate of Jersey City State College, Savino played prep basketball for the legendary Bob Hurley at St. Anthony's High School, where he was a teammate to Bobby Hurley and Roderick Rhodes on a squad that won the USA Today national championship his senior season.
Savino's appointment completes the coaching hires on the UC staff. Cronin will add a video coordinator and a graduate assistant.
