PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Five-time national champion Connecticut will visit Cincinnati next year as the Bearcats will host the Huskies as part of the BIG EAST schedule. The league announced the home/away opponents for the 2006-07 season on Thursday.
UConn, which finished ranked No. 6 last season, is one of four postseason teams that UC will host in Fifth Third Arena next year. DePaul joined UConn in the NCAA Tournament and Marquette and Villanova reached the WNIT. Other home opponents include Providence, Seton Hall, Syracuse and Georgetown.
Six of the Bearcats road opponents reached the postseason last year, including NCAA participants Louisville, Notre Dame, Rutgers, St. John's and USF. Dates and times for the games will be released at a later date.
UC finished its first season in the BIG EAST with a 17-12 record and reached the postseason for the eighth time in the last nine years.
