OAK RIDGE, Tenn.---Cincinnati concluded the 2005-06 rowing season at the Aramark South/Central Sprints on Sunday in Oak Ridge, Tenn. Behind an 11th place finish from the open four boat, UC placed 20th in the overall standings and 11th in the Central Region.

The open four finished fifth in the B-final to take 11th overall, clocking in with a time of 8:10.61. UC also got a fourth place finish in the C-final from its second varsity eight boat in a time of 7:11.12. The mark placed that crew in 16th overall.

"I think it's important to take this regatta in context," stated UC head coach Pam Mork. "This is the strongest and fastest regatta in the country and the depth of the teams is just tremendous. For us, I thought all three of our varsity boats raced the best they have all season. The most exciting race came from our second eight. It was a close finish and I was incredibly impressed with their aggressiveness and determination.

"Our first varsity four also raced strong," Mork continued. "I was very pleased with their intensity and poise. In our first eight race, they had the best race they've ever run. I am just really pleased that they were able to put together such a strong race in the final regatta of the year.

"Our open four was absolutely terrific," Mork concluded. "They really showed great race poise and stepped up to the plate. It was terrific from UC for them to qualify for the B-final."

Ohio State took the overall team title, edging Wisconsin 366-361. The Buckeyes were also the Central Region Champions, while Tennessee took the South Region title.
