, -- Home matches against 2004 National Champion Notre Dame and 2005 NCAA participant Purdue highlight the 2006 women's soccer schedule.
"I am a big believer in a non-conference schedule that mirrors the strength of the conference," head women's coach Meridy Glenn said. "We have a very balanced schedule with good competition throughout."
Two doubleheaders during the 2006 season will afford fans the opportunity to see both the men's and women's teams in action. The men's home opener against Bradley on Aug. 29 will be followed by the women's squad taking on Purdue. On Sept. 17, the women will host at 12:30 p.m. with the men taking on national power Notre Dame at 3 p.m.
The Bearcats, entering their 27th season of women's soccer, open at the prestigious Akron Westfield Cup on Aug. 17, taking on in an exhibition match. UC will play the winner of the Wright State-Temple contest on Aug. 19 in its second exhibition.
The regular season and home opener will take place on Aug. 25 with UC entertaining longtime rival at Gettler Stadium.
The Bearcats take on in-state rival, () on Sept. 1 in , followed by crosstown foe Xavier on Sept. 3. NCAA qualifier is next on the docket for UC on Oct. 8.
will take on archrival in the BIG EAST opener for both squads on Sept. 15. The Bearcats open the home portion of their conference schedule against defending BIG EAST champion Notre Dame, which reached the national quarterfinals of the 2005 NCAA Tournament. An Oct. 8 date with Villanova will close out a four-match homestand and will feature Senior Day, with kickoff set for 12:30 p.m.
UC takes on NCAA participant and longtime rival Marquette on Oct. 13 to begin a four-match season-ending road swing.
The BIG EAST Tournament will open on campus sites on Oct. 27-29. The semifinals and finals will be held in , on Nov. 3 and Nov. 5, respectively.
