, - of men's soccer standouts Kenny Anaba (, /Worthington Christian), Amir Ikner (, /Blue Valley West) and Kwame Sarkodie (/Carroll) will play for the Indiana Invaders of the Premier Development League (PDL) this summer.
Anaba, a third-team All-BIG EAST forward in 2005, led UC with nine goals and 21 points, ranking fifth in the conference in both categories. Ikner started all 19 contests for the Bearcats in 2005, logging over 1,700 minutes and scoring one goal with two assists. Sarkodie started 17 of 19 matches in the midfield and at defender last fall and scored two goals during the spring season, despite missing time with a leg injury.
"Playing with the Indiana Invaders is a great opportunity for our guys," head coach Hylton Dayes said. "All three players will benefit greatly from the increased competition they will face throughout the summer."
The Indiana Invaders are in the Great Lakes Division of the Central Conference in the 59-team league. The PDL, sponsored by United Soccer Leagues, is the top U-23 men's amateur league in the country. Players have the ability to compete in a 16-match regular season schedule and the U.S. Open Cup, as well as various exhibitions, while maintaining thier collegiate eligibility.
