CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The University of Cincinnati has earned honorable mention status by the American Football Coaches Association's Academic Achievement Award recognition.

UC was one of 28 schools to achieve a graduation rate of 70 percent or above for the entering freshman class of 2000-01. It is the second time in the past four years that the Bearcats have been honored.

SMU won the 2006 AFCA Academic Achievement Award by achieving a graduation rate of 100 percent. Cincinnati was one of four BIG EAST schools to receive recognition, joining Rutgers, Syracuse and West Virginia.

The AFCA reported a graduation rate of 58 percent for all schools responding to this year's survey, matching the 2005 percentage.
