CINCINNATI, Ohio---University of Cincinnati student-athletes Dominique Davis, Hannah Hinton and Ryan Yearwood have been selected as Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholars for the 2005-06 school year. The award recognizes minority student-athletes who have contributed in the classroom and in their sport.

Davis (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) is a sophomore member of the track and field team, specializing in sprints. This spring, she posted the Bearcats' top time in the 400 meters and ran a leg of the 4x400-meter relay team that finished sixth at the BIG EAST Championships. Away from track, Davis is a marketing major, carrying a 3.58 GPA.

Hinton (Gainesville, Fla./Buchholz) just completed her third season as a member of the UC tennis team. At UC, Hinton enjoyed a successful freshman season, winning a team-best 13 dual matches and going 23-11 at No. 1 doubles. Injuries have slowed her for the past two seasons and as a junior Hinton played in 14 doubles matches, helping her team win three of the last eight. In the classroom, Hinton holds a 3.73 GPA and is majoring in communications.

Yearwood (Port of Spain, Trinidad/Queen's Royal College) was a four-year member of the Bearcat swimming team. At the 2006 BIG EAST Championships, he posted a trio of top-10 finishes and concluded the campaign with the team's second-fastest time in two different events. A digital design major, Yearwood holds a GPA of 3.47.
