CINCINNATI, Ohio---The University of Cincinnati volleyball team is about to embark on a trip of a lifetime as the Bearcats will spend two weeks in Italy beginning on June 27. The trip oversees for competition and sight-seeing is being organized by Bring It Promotions and its founder Tim Kelly.

"This trip will be great exposure for our program and it will be good for our players to see and play against international volleyball," UC head coach Reed Sunahara said. "This is the type of experience that hopefully 20 years down the road the kids will look back on and remember fondly."

The staple of the trip is a five-day tournament in Comunanza that will include 11 club teams featuring players aged 20 and under. In addition to UC, clubs from Russia, Serbia and Montenegro, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Hungary and Italy will compete from July 3-8. The teams will be broken into three, four-team groups and then move into an elimination tournament with quarterfinals, semifinals and finals.

The official website of UC Bearcats Athletics, www.ucbearcats.com, will have the trip covered with daily journals and photos will be submitted by the student-athletes.

UC will depart from Cincinnati on Tuesday, June 28 with Rome serving as the team's first stop. After three days in the nation's capital, the Bearcat contingent will spend a day in Falconara, before moving on to Comunanza for the Sibillini Tournament. Cincinnati will spend the final two days of its odyssey in Venice before departing for the United States on Tuesday, July 11.

The trip marks the second such journey for Bearcat Volleyball since 2002. That season, Bring It Promotions organized a UC trip that visited Austria and Slovenia. Among the current Bearcat players, both redshirt sophomore Jessie Nevitt and sophomore Lindsey Peterson have visited Argentina through USA Select Team tours.
