CINCINNATI, Ohio---A trio of University of Cincinnati baseball players have been selected to play in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League All-Star game this weekend. Sophomores Josh Harrison and Adam Yeager, senior Neall French and incoming junior John Baird will all participate in the festivities which get underway at 5:35 p.m. on Sunday (July 16) at Bob Wren Stadium in Athens, Ohio.

Harrison (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton), playing this summer for the Cincinnati Steam and Yeager (Huntington, W.Va./Huntington) of the Southern Ohio Copperheads, will be members of the Blue Team for the All-Star Game. Baird (Delaware, Ohio/Birmingham Southern) and French (Bay Village, Ohio/Triton CC), teammates this summer on the Delaware Cows, will join the Red Team for Sunday's exhibition.

This summer, a number of Bearcats are finding success in various summer leagues around the nation. A look at some of those players' accomplishments:

  • John Baird-Delaware Cows (Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League): holds a 2-0 record and a league-leading 0.00 ERA in six appearances (five starts) ... has allowed just one unearned run in 29.0 innings ... ranks second in the league with a .116 opponents batting average ... has recorded 27 strikeouts.
  • Josh Harrison-Cincinnati Steam (Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League): hitting .315 with one triple and seven RBI in 22 games ... has stolen seven bases in seven attempts ... drawn 10 walks and scored 13 runs.
  • Cory Hodskins-Louisville Bombers (Derby City League): was hitting .286 in 21 at-bats through July 4.
  • Neall French-Delaware Cows (Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League): hitting .324 with four doubles and one home run in 25 games ... ranks among the league top-10 with 12 RBI.
  • Brian Szarmach-Amsterdam Mohawks (New York Collegiate Baseball League): hitting .206 in 19 games with one home run and five RBI ... also has two doubles ... successfully stolen four of five bases.
  • Adam Yeager-Southern Ohio Copperheads (Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League): batting .256 in 25 games ... tied for first in the GLSCL with 18 runs scored and is second with 13 stolen bases in 15 tries ... has recorded one double and one triple.
