, -- Jason O'Keefe, assistant coach at for the past three years, has been named assistant coach for the men's soccer team.
"We are extremely pleased to have Jason join our staff. He is an excellent coach with a tremendous passion for the game," head coach Hylton Dayes said. "He also brings Division I coaching experience and valuable recruiting contacts from his time in the ACC."
O'Keefe helped the Demon Deacons compile a 13-8-2 overall record in 2005 and reach the third round of the NCAA College Cup. went 42-18-4 during O'Keefe's tenure.
He spent the previous three years as an assistant at his alma mater, . During his time at , the Pride won three Dixie Conference regular season and tournament championships and was ranked in the top 10 all three years, capturing a Division III South Regional Championship in 2001.
O'Keefe, who holds a USSF "B" license and NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, was a North Carolina ODP staff coach and head coach of the Carolina Dynamo of the Super Y-League from 2002-2006. He also coached the Super Y-League South Atlantic Regional team from 2004-2006.
O'Keefe graduated from in 1997 with a BA in history. He played for the Pride from 1992-96 helping GC to three NCAA Tournament appearances, a 1994 conference championship and a 1996 South Regional Championship.
