COLUMBUS, Ohio - In his return to the state where he starred for three years at the University of Cincinnati, Josh Gardner made an impact on the Los Angeles Galaxy-Columbus Crew MLS match on Saturday. In the 1-1 tie between the teams, Garnder assisted on Peter Vagenas' match-tying goal, notching his third helper of the year.

Gardner, who was the first UC player drafted by the MLS, has started 11 of the 15 matches he has played in for the Galaxy this season, playing alongside superstar Landon Donovan and former U.S. National team member Cobi Jones. He is fourth on the team with five points (1 G, 3 A).

Gardner, a native of Houston, Texas, earned All-Conference USA first team and second team All-Region honors in 2003 after leading the Bearcats to the NCAA Tournament for only the second time in school history. He was drafted by the Galaxy with the 13th overall pick in the 2004 SuperDraft.
