CINCINNATI, Ohio - The University of Cincinnati's men's soccer recruiting class has been touted as one of the top in the nation, according to rankings released by College Soccer News. UC's nine-member class has been ranked 38th nationally by the website.
"I think this is a testament to the hard work the coaching staff has put into the recruiting process," stated UC head coach Hylton Dayes. "We feel that this is a very deep class with many talented players that will make significant contributions to our program. It is always good to be recognized on a national level for our recruiting efforts."
The Bearcats are one of six BIG EAST schools in the rankings, but are one of only two Ohio squads to make the list. Only Akron (25th) was ranked higher in the state than the Bearcats. Other BIG EAST members to make the cut were Connecticut (sixth), Notre Dame (16th), St. John's (18th), Georgetown (30th) and Marquette (40th).
The nine members of the class are Patrick Baxter (Cincinnati, Ohio/Cincinnati State), Patrick Barthold (Centreville, Va./Westfield), Marcus Hairston (Jackson, Mich./Robert M. Callaway), Luke Henke (Wauwatosa, Wis./Milwaukee Lutheran), Paul Hoste (Clinton Township, Mich./De La Salle), Scott Kunze (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood), Alexander Marrello (Burnbay, British Columbia/Alpha Secondary), Judson McKinney (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley) and Matt Williams (Portland, Maine/Cheverus).
