This is the second in an eight-part series, previewing the University of Cincinnati football team as it prepares to open fall practice on Aug. 7. In this installment, the Bearcats' 2006 running game is previewed.

The junior trio of Butler Benton, Bradley Glatthaar and Greg Moore continues to make running back a position with great depth. Each has his own particular set of skills to be an effective runner. Benton is a sure-handed rusher. Known for his ability to get the tough yard, Glatthaar led the team in yards (620) and TDs (7) last season. Moore possesses the combination of speed and power.

Senior Mike Daniels is a scat back type of performer who provides good depth as well as a different running style.

Doug Jones, a versatile 6-4, 273-pound junior has manned the fullback position essentially by himself the past two seasons, during which he has proven valuable as a rusher, receiver and pass protector. Jones will have help available this year in sophomore Brad Bury and redshirt frosh Marcus Waugh.

"Running back continues to be a position of depth on our football team," head coach Mark Dantonio stated. "Benton had an outstanding spring. Moore and Glatthaar are proven commodities. The talents of our young freshmen coming this fall should make this a position of strength."
