WEST HARRISON, - Brent Celek and Dominic Ross take on leadership roles as football team captains for the 2006 season as voted on by their teammates.

"Brent is a senior and is returning for his second year as a leader of this program," Head Coach Mark Dantonio stated. "He represents everything that is good about college football and will play at the highest level. Dominic is a three-year starter who gives great effort everyday. He studies the game extensively and has great character."

A graduate of 's , Celek was rated as the No. 13 tight end in the country in The Sporting News' preseason All-American checklist. As a junior, the 6-4, 260-pound tight end finished second on the team in receptions (32) and receiving yards (361).

Ross is a three-year starter in the defensive secondary, who shared the team lead with two interceptions and finished fifth in tackles with 59 last season. A native of , the 6-0, 200-pound safety started 10 of 11 games a year ago at strong safety.

The Bearcats have the next two days off before returning to the field on Sunday night

Dantonio added, "The coaching staff will take the next two days to evaluate where we are at as a program. We need to move on to Eastern and to find out what exactly we are going to do against them."

The Bearcats host Meet the Team Night on Sunday, Aug. 27 at 6 p.m. on Sheakley Lawn in front of the . Free and open to the public, Meet the Team Night is designed for fans to get an up-close look at the 2006 Bearcats.

Bearcat student-athletes and coaches will be available for photos and autographs. Food and beverages will be provided as well as ticket information, schedule cards and posters. At 7:30 p.m., Dantonio will lead his charges to the Nippert Stadium turf for an open scrimmage. Fans are encouraged to attend and cheer on their favorite Bearcats.
