, - Adam Hrycaniuk has become the ninth and final member of the basketball recruiting class.
Hrycaniuk, a 6-10, 230-pound center who earned all-region honors at last season, has enrolled at UC and will be eligible to compete for the Bearcats beginning with the 2006-07 season.
Hrycaniuk is the second 6-10 player signed by the Bearcats, joining Hernol Hall on the roster.
"Adam is a hard-nosed guy who has a soft shooting touch," stated UC head coach Mick Cronin. "I like the intangibles and the toughness he brings to the court, as well as his ability. Adam is a good person and a true student-athlete and I am excited to have him on board."
Hrycaniuk averaged 11.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.5 blocks last season at . He was selected to play for the Region XIV all-star team and scored 14 points in a game vs. a team of all-stars selected nationally.
A native of , , Hrycaniuk played at in during the 2004-05 season, averaging 5.6 points and 3.6 rebounds.
Hrycaniuk joins the Bearcat recruiting class that includes three NJCAA All-Americans--Hernol Hall, a first team All-American selection from Lon Morris College; John Williamson, a 6-6 forward who was a first team selection at Cincinnati State; and Jamual Warren, a 6-2 guard who earned second team honors at the Globe Institute for Technology.
Other Bearcat signees are Tim Crowell, a 6-2 guard who averaged 7.5 assists at Midland College en route to first team all-league honors last season; Marvin Gentry, a 6-3 guard who was the conference's player of the year at McLennan Community College; Marcus Sikes, a 6-8 forward who averaged a double-double (13.1 points, 11.3 rebounds) last season at Mt. San Jacinto College; Deonta Vaughn, a two-time first team all-state performer from Indianapolis who finished his high school career at Harmony Community School in Cincinnati; and Mike Williams, a 6-7 former McDonald's high school All-American and transfer from the University of Texas.
