CINCINNATI, Ohio - Fans tuning in to Friday night's University of Cincinnati football radio broadcast on 700 WLW will hear a familiar voice calling the action. Dan Hoard, the Voice of the Bearcats' football and men's basketball teams for each of the last six seasons, returns to that role for the 2006-07 season after spending the summer as the play-by-play voice of the Pawtucket Red Sox, the AAA affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.

In addition to calling the action on the broadcasts, Hoard will continue to host weekly call-in radio shows featuring head coaches Mark Dantonio and Mick Cronin.

Hoard has been a focal point of Bearcatss broadcasts since coming to Cincinnati from Syracuse, N.Y. in 1995. He served as UC's radio voice in 1996 and handled the play-by-play on UC local television football and men's basketball telecasts on FOX 19 from 1996-2000. He became the radio play-by-play voice in 2000.

"I am thrilled to continue my association with Bearcats Athletics and the Big One - 700 WLW," said Hoard. "Between UC's BIG EAST affiliation and the completion of the Richard E. Lindner Varsity Village, it is an exciting time to be a Bearcat."

The 2006 season marks the 14th year that powerhouse WLW has served as the radio home of Cincinnati Athletics. Since 2003, that relationship has continued under an agreement with the UC Athletics program's multimedia rightsholder ISP Sports.

WLW's signal can be heard in 38 states and seven countries via terrestrial radio, and worldwide via XM Satellite Radio Channel 173. UC is the only school in the nation which can boast of its entire schedule of coach's shows, and regular season football & men's basketball games carried on satellite radio.

"Dan is one of the nation's premier play-by-play announcers," UC Director of Athletics Mike Thomas stated. "His enthusiasm on the air will continue to energize the broadcasts of Cincinnati Athletics and help us tell the Bearcats' story."

Hoard will also contribute a weekly column, posted every Wednesday, on GoBEARCATS.com, providing commentary on anything and everything UC.

Joining Hoard in the football booth throughout the 2006 season will be longtime broadcaster Jim Kelly, Jr. and first-year analyst Deontey Kenner, both former Bearcat football standouts.
