  • BEARCATS HOPE HOME COOKING DOES THE TRICK:

    The men's soccer team returns to Gettler Stadium for the first time in over two weeks to open a five-match homestand on Friday, Sept. 15. The Bearcats, looking to snap a four-match winless streak, will take on at 7 p.m. in just their second home match of the season. On Sunday, Sept. 17, UC will welcome No. 12 Notre Dame to Gettler Stadium for a 3:00 p.m. tilt. UC-ND is part of a doubleheader in which the women's soccer team will take on at 12:30 p.m.

    BEARCAT BITES:

    • The Bearcats are 2-3-1 overall after posting an 0-2-0 record last weekend in the first conference action of the season. UC dropped a 2-0 decision at No. 10 West Virginia on Sept. 8 and fell to , 2-1, Sept. 10 in double overtime.

    • Amir Ikner's goal against Pitt snapped a 359:45 scoreless streak for the Bearcats.

    • The Bearcats were shutout in back-to-back matches for the first time since the 2000 season.

    • has lost three of its last four and has been outscored 10-1 during that span.

    • UC was picked to finish third in the Red Division in the BIG EAST preseason coaches poll.

    • Senior Omar Cummings has been named the Preseason BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year as well as preseason All-BIG EAST and College Soccer News Preseason All-American.

    • The UC 2006 recruiting class was ranked No. 38 by College Soccer News.

    • Head coach Hylton Dayes is in his sixth season at the helm of the Bearcats holding a 46-40-17 mark.

    SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES:

    heads into the UC match winless in its last five matches, including losses in its last four. MU is 1-4-1 overall and 0-2-0 in BIG EAST play. The Golden Eagles lost 2-0 against DePaul last Friday and 2-1 against USF on Sunday at Valley Fields.

    Dan Addis leads the attack with a pair of goals. Matt Pyzdrowski has posted a 1-3-1 record in goal with 17 saves and one shutout.

    Head coach Louis Bennett is in his first season at after amassing 136 wins at Wisconsin-Milwaukee over the last 10 seasons.

    UC-MARQUETTE SERIES HISTORY:

    Former Conference foes, UC and Marquette have met 22 times, with MU holding an 11-8-3 mark in the series. Last season, topped the Golden Eagles, 2-0, at Valley Fields. After a 10-match winless streak to the Golden Eagles, UC has posted a 6-3-1 record in the last 10 meetings.

    SCOUTING THE IRISH:

    No. 12 Notre Dame comes into the weekend with a 3-2-1 overall mark after defeating DePaul, 3-0, on Sunday. ND has defeated No. 8 Creighton and No. 12 Indiana already this season.

    Joe Lapira leads the BIG EAST in goals and scoring with five and 11, respectively. He scored four goals in Notre Dame's 5-4 OT win against . The goalkeeping platoon of Chris Cahill and Andrew Quinn has posted a 1.24 goals against average and a pair of shutouts.

    Legendary head coach Bobby Clark is in his 20th season overall, holding a 221-92-39 record.

    UC-NOTRE DAME SERIES HISTORY:

    The Bearcats will face the Irish for the eighth time in team history, with the squads all square at 3-3-1 in head-to-hear matchups. Last season, the first time the two had met since 1980, UC walked away from Alumni Field with a 2-1 win over the 18th-ranked Irish. ND holds a 3-1-1 record against UC in .
