, - The University of men's soccer team never found an offensive rhythm and struggled throughout a 6-0 defeat against No. 2 Southern Methodist on Friday night on day one of the SMU Radisson Invitational.

The Bearcats found themselves trailing just five minutes in after a Bruno Guardo cross found the foot of Dario Saintus, starting the scoring for SMU.

The Mustangs had a 2-0 lead at halftime and continued to pepper the goal with an offensive barrage. SMU outshot UC, 22-8, on the evening and received goals from six different players.

Senior goalkeeper Mike Vessells made 10 saves, providing a solitary bright spot on an otherwise forgettable night for the Bearcats.

The Bearcats will have a quick turnaround, getting an opportunity to get the sour taste of defeat out of their collective mouths tomorrow evening as they take on Florida International at 5 p.m. CT.
