NOTRE DAME, Ind.---Hillery Wilson matched a school record with a second round 69 to climb to the top of the leaderboard through two rounds of the Lady Irish Invitational. With just 18 holes remaining, Wilson holds a two-shot lead in her quest for her sixth career tournament title.
After carding a 77 in the opening round, Wilson shaved eight strokes off her score to match a record she established last fall. Wilson is two shots in front of Hilary Anderson of Illinois State with a score of 146.
The team standings show the Bearcats in third place with a team total of 616. Cincinnati opened play with a season-best 310, then went four shots better with a second round 306. UC sits four shots back of Notre Dame, who clings to a one shot lead over Illinois State.
Behind Wilson, senior Sarah Bires is also in the top-20 after rounds of 75 and 80, placed her in a tie for 20th. For the second straight tournament, sophomore Sarah Stamper matched her career-low when she shot an opening round 79.
Play concludes with the final 18 holes beginning at 9 a.m. ET on Sunday.
