"We are excited to once again host this great event," UC head coach Brian Cleary stated. "The alumni home run derby is always a fun time for not only the participants, but for the current team and spectators as well. It is always good to have alumni on campus and interacting with our players. It should be fun filled for everyone."

Warm-ups for the event will begin at 6 p.m. as the participants take part in batting practice on the field. The derby itself will get underway at 6:45 p.m. Cleary is encouraging all baseball alumni to participate as different home run fences will be set up for all classes.

The previous two editions of the derby have been dominated by former catchers. Chris Hamblen, a former draft pick of the Texas Rangers won the title in 2004, while current Tampa Bay Devils Rays' farm hand Steve Pickerell earned the crown last year.
