WEST CHICAGO, Ill.---Geoff Newman and Albert Fernandez both tied for 18th place overall, leading the University of Cincinnati men's golf team to a 10th place finish at the John Dallio Memorial. The tournament, hosted by DePaul, concluded on Tuesday at the Prairie Landing Golf Club.
Newman, a senior, shot a 73 on Tuesday, while Fernandez, a sophomore, finished at 74. Both golfers concluded the tournament with a total of 220, missing the top-10 by only two strokes.
The team standings saw Northern Iowa maintain its day one lead to take the championship by 13 strokes over South Dakota State. The Panthers finished with a team total of 866. UC was 10th at 900, just two back of Notre Dame.
The Bearcats are back in action on Friday, hosting Northern Kentucky at the Elks Runs Golf Course in Batavia. UC and NKU will tee off at 12:30 p.m.
