SETTING THE SCENE: Fresh off the biggest tournament win in school history, the University of Cincinnati women's golf team will compete for local supremacy against Northern Kentucky on Friday, Sept. 29 at the Elks Run Golf Course in Batavia, Ohio. The tournament will tee off with the men's competition at 12:30 p.m. and the women's beginning at 1:20 p.m. UC is coming off a huge performance in the Lady Irish Invitational in which the Bearcats defeated five of the nation's top-100 teams to take the team title.

ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT: Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky will square off at Elks Run Golf Course in what has been deemed the "Cross River Shootout." The unique event will not only crown an overall individual and team winner, but also an event winner. At the conclusion of the event, the top two players from each school's men's team and women's team will have their score combined to decide the winner of the Cross River Shootout.

THE LINE-UP: All 11 members of the Bearcats' roster will get the opportunity to compete against NKU, with juniors Hillery Wilson and Allison Mayborg leading the charge. Wilson has been sensational this fall, leading the team with a 74.0 average and matching a school record with a round of 69. Competing for the first time this season will be seniors Jackie Nimer and Sarah Ryan, junior Emily Elliott, redshirt freshman Alyssa Olson and freshman Katelyn Hiller.

GETTING TO ELKS RUN: To get to Elks Run from downtown Cincinnati, take 471 South into Kentucky and exit onto 275 East towards Batavia. Get off 275 on the Route 32 east exit towards Batavia. Take the first exit off of 32 for Batavia (labeled Main Street). Turn right at the bottom of the exit ramp and go across the bridge into Batavia. From there, take a right on Riverside Drive and look for the Elks Run sign. Turn left on Elklick Road and follow until you come to the entrance of the golf club on the left.

HOPING FOR MORE: Through just two seasons at Cincinnati, junior Hillery Wilson has already accomplished a great deal. As a Bearcat, Wilson has won six tournaments, set the school record for lowest round and the mark for lowest single-season average. She has gotten off to a great start in 2006, holding a team-best 74.0 average and matching her own school record with a round of 69 at the Lady Irish Invitational. On the strength of her win last weekend at the Lady Irish Invitational, Wilson is ranked 32nd nationally by Golf Week.
