SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The University of Cincinnati women's cross country team finished 13th at the Notre Dame Invitational today at the Notre Dame Golf Course. Sophomore Megan Knapp and junior Jennifer Hannen paced the Bearcats, tying for 31st place in the women's Gold Division.
Both Knapp and Hannen crossed the finish line in 18:50. Nichole Leslie finished 62nd in 19:10, while Amy Schoenfeld was 94th in 19:36.
Freshman Kayla Phelps finished 111th in 19:51. Ellen Knopf was 127th (20:05), while freshman Courtney Hentz (20:06) and Joanne Gribler (20:07) placed 129th and 130th, respectively.
Over 50 schools from accross the nation and Canada competed in the prestigious event. Jackie Malette of Windsor finished in 17:33 to capture the individual title in the women's Gold Division. Michigan's Erin Webster won the Blue Division title in 16:36. Michigan was the team champion in the Blue Division race, while Indiana State garnered the Gold Division team championship.
The Bearcats are next in action on Friday, Oct. 6, when they compete in the All-Ohio Championships in Delaware, Ohio.
