, -- Skyline Chili Bearcat Madness returns to Fifth Third Arena on Friday, Oct. 13, as the basketball teams make their first public appearance of the 2006-07 season. This is a free event for all Bearcats fans!
The Voice of the Bearcats, Dan Hoard, will be on hand to emcee the event, and Chad Johnson of the Cincinnati Bengals and Bronson Arroyo of the Cincinnati Reds will appear as celebrity guest coaches. The 2006-07 men's and women's teams will be introduced to the crowd and show off their vocal talents in a "Bearcats Basketball Idol" competition.
Doors open at 7 p.m. with autograph sessions, interactive games, and music by Bronson Arroyo of the Cincinnati Reds. The official program will begin at 8:30, with full concessions being served until 10 p.m.
The student-athletes will participate in interactive dunk and three-point contests, in which fans can challenge their favorite Bearcats.
The first 3,500 fans through the doors will receive a free t-shirt courtesy of adidas and great prizes and giveaways will be given away throughout the night. Presenting sponsor Trauth Dairy will debut its newest ice cream flavor, Bearcat Sundae, and presenting sponsor Panera Bread will be on hand to distribute coupons and savings to fans.
Fans are also going to want to be on hand because the new Bearcat mascot will make his first appearance after being redesigned over the summer. The new look is a result of the fan-driven branding forums held during June and July. Feedback from the summer forums was shared with the newly-formed Athletics Branding Task Force, which features representatives from the UC athletics department, season ticket patrons, UCATS members, the UC Alumni Association, UC faculty and staff, plus the UC undergraduate and graduate student populations.
