BLOOMINGTON, Ind.---The University of Cincinnati rowing team opened its fall season in style, topping regional rival Indiana in exhibition action on Sunday in Bloomington. The Bearcats were victorious in the opening head race then went on to capture a pair of wins in set-piece racing action.
Led by coxswain Liz Johnson, the Bearcats won the 4.5 kilometer head race in 16:15, topping the Hoosiers by 13 seconds. Johnson's crew was comprised of Jessica Beebe, Stephanie Celek, Lindsey Kemna, Emily Knaus, Jodie Lush, Lisa Teague, Elizabeth Tremblay and Sarah White.
UC went on to a one-boat length victory in the first of five, two-minute set pieces. The Bearcats also took a narrow win in the third race section.
The Bearcats will open the regular season on Sunday, Oct. 29, travelling to Elkhart, Ind. for the Head of the Elk.
