HOPKINSVILLE, Ky..---Joe Young shot two season-best rounds of 71 to lead the University of Cincinnati men's golf team during the opening day of play at the F&M Bank Intercollegiate, hosted by Austin Peay. Young's score of 142 places him in a tie for eighth with 18 holes to play.

The Bearcats were exceptional in round two, matching the team's best score of the year with a 293. In addition to Young's 71, Geoff Newman shot a 72 and Alex Wenzel a 74 to lead the Bearcats. UC is just four strokes behind Morehead State in the battle for fifth with a total of 589. Troy and Murray State share the top spot at 575.

Through 36 holes, Young is just two shots out of a tie for third place. Paul Marshall ranks second on the squad in a tie for 29th with a score of 148. Samford's Bradley Pate holds a two-stroke lead in the battle for medalist honors at 137.

The final day of the F&M Bank Intercollegiate will get underway at 9 a.m. CT on Tuesday at the Links at Novadell.
