CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The No. 15 University of Cincinnati men's soccer team, which captured its first BIG EAST regular season title with a 2-1 win at Villanova on Oct. 21, will host Providence College on Saturday, Oct. 28, in the quarterfinals of the 2006 BIG EAST Tournament. UC (11-4-2, 7-3-1 BIG EAST), the No. 1 seed out of the Red Division, will welcome Providence (12-5-0, 7-4-0) to Gettler Stadium for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
, the No. 4 seed in the Blue Division, knocked out of the tournament with a 2-0 first-round home win on Wednesday afternoon. The Bearcats received a first-round bye.
UC and did not meet during the regular season, but the two sides faced off twice in 2005, including a first-round BIG EAST tournament match. The Bearcats and Friars played to a 1-1 draw on Sept. 18, 2005 and PC slipped by , 2-1, on Nov. 2, both at Gettler Stadium.
Admission is just $5, $3 for children 12 and under and groups of 10 or more will be admitted for just $1 per person. Fans presenting their UC-Syracuse football ticket stub will be admitted for free. The first 300 fans in the door will receive a complimentary Bearcats Rally Towel.
The UC-PC winner will move on to the semifinals at Yurcak Field in , on Nov. 3.
