CINCINNATI, Ohio---The University of Cincinnati volleyball team has joined 20 other squads from across the nation in helping to fight breast cancer through the Dig for the Cure program. UC has dedicated its match against USF on Sunday, Nov. 12 as the team's contribution to the cause.

Players and staff alike will begin soliciting donations at the Bearcats' Oct. 28 match against Notre Dame in anticipation of the Dig for the Cure match two weeks later. Donations will be accepted in two forms; either flat rate or on a per dig basis. The per dig total will be based on the number of digs the Bearcats record against USF. All proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the Cincinnati affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

"This is a great event and I am pleased that UC is a part of it," Bearcat head coach Reed Sunahara said. "Anything we can do to help such a worthy cause, we are more than happy to do. Hopefully, all of our loyal fans will step up and donate to this great cause."

UC is also promoting the USF match as Mother/Daughter Day. All mothers who attend the match with their daughter(s) will be admitted for $1 per person.

The Dig for the Cure program was established in 2003 by Charlotte head volleyball coach Lisa Marston. Marston's mother is a breast cancer survivor and one of many from around the world that Marston hopes to honor through the program.
