CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Abdul Herrera has left the University of Cincinnati men's basketball team, and head coach Mick Cronin does not expect the 6-10 sophomore to return.
Herrera enrolled at UC in the Fall of 2005, but failed to meet NCAA requirements for initial eligibility and had to sit out the 2005-06 season. He he two points and five rebounds as a backup in the Bearcats' intrasquad scrimmage on Oct. 22.
A 6-10, 255-pound center, Herrera averaged 19.4 points and 15.9 rebounds as a senior at South Miami (Fla.) Senior High. He is a native of Panama who first became involved in organized basketball when his family moved to Miami his freshman year.
