Freshman linebacker Freddie Lenix has left the University of Cincinnati football team for personal reasons.

Lenix saw action in one game this season. He had yet to record a tackle.

Lenix was named the Greater Cleveland area Athlete of the Year in 2005 by the Plain Dealer as a senior at Glenville High School. He led coach Ted Ginn's grid team to a 12-2 record and a regional championship. Lenix also helped the track and field team to state championships in 2004 and 2005.

UC (5-4, 2-2 BIG EAST) enjoys an open week this Saturday. After taking an opportunity to recuperate, the Bearcats return to action on Nov. 11 when they travel to No. 3 West Virginia.
