LUBBOCK, Texas---Steve Blevins, a sophomore right-handed pitcher at the University of Cincinnati, has been named to the 2007 Wallace Watch, the College Baseball Foundation announced. The "Watch" is comprised of 148 of the nation's best players, all vying for the Brooks Wallace Award, honoring college baseball's top player at the conclusion of the 2007 season.
Blevins (Louisa, Ky./Lawrence County) enjoyed a phenomenal freshman campaign, earning Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American and All-BIG EAST third team honors. For the season, Blevins posted a 9-5 record in 16 starts, setting a UC freshman record for wins. In 101.0 innings, Blevins struck out 68 and posted a 5.70 ERA. Twice during his first season as a Bearcat, Blevins was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week.
The 2007 Wallace Watch is made of 148 players, including 12 members of last season's College Baseball Foundation All-American Team. Blevins is one of six BIG EAST players on the list joining Chris Joachim (St. John's), Logan Johnson (Louisville), Wade Korpi (Notre Dame), Addison Maruszak (USF) and Dan McDonald (Seton Hall).
