  • , -- University of men's soccer standout Omar Cummings (, / State) has been selected to participate in the 2007 adidas Major League Soccer Player Combine. The annual combine will be held at Lockhart Stadium in on Jan. 5-8, 2007.

    Cummings, a unanimous All-BIG EAST first team selection in both 2005 and 2006, led the Bearcats in scoring for the second straight season with 21 points (6 G, 9 A). He ranked sixth in the BIG EAST in scoring and finished second in the BIG EAST with nine assists. Cummings closed out his two-year career at UC ranked fifth in school history with 16 career assists.

    "We are extremely pleased that Omar has been selected to participate in the MLS combine," said head coach Hylton Dayes. "He is without question one of the top players in the country and will no doubt represent The University of Cincinnati and the BIG EAST in a first class manner."

    Major League Soccer invited 58 college seniors to its annual combine from 44 different Division I institutions. Cummings is one of eight players from the BIG EAST Conference to be selected.

    Coaching staffs and general managers from all 13 MLS teams will be in attendance to scout the talent leading up to the MLS SuperDraft, which will be held on Jan. 12, 2007, in , in conjunction with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Convention at the .

    The 2007 adidas MLS Player Combine will separate all players into four teams and feature doubleheaders at Lockhart Stadium on Jan. 5, 6 and 8. Each team will be coached by one of the following four college coaches: John Trask (Illinois-Chicago), John Rennie (Duke), Mike Noonan (Brown), and Greg Andrulis (George Mason).
