LEXINGTON, Ky.---Jessie Nevitt's list of athletic awards added another line as the talented sophomore was tabbed an honorable mention All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA) on Wednesday. The award for the University of Cincinnati standout is her second All-America award and comes on the heels of earning a spot on the AVCA All-Northeast Region squad last week.

The 2006 season was another outstanding one for Nevitt (Kennesaw, Ga./Kennesaw Mountain) as she was also a first team All-BIG EAST selection for the second consecutive year. Nevitt led the BIG EAST in blocks per game with 1.68 and ranked second in hitting percentage at .367. Among Nevitt's other accolades this season included being named BIG EAST Player of the Week twice, earning a spot on a pair of all-tournament teams and breaking multiple school single-match blocks records. She was also named to the BIG EAST preseason all-conference team.

Nevitt joins UC great Julie DuPont as the only players in program history to earn two All-American awards. DuPont was a third team selection in 2003 and an honorable mention choice one year later.

The BIG EAST was well represented on the All-American team, garnering eight honorable mentions. Joining Nevitt on the list are Tatyana Kolesnikova and Ana Yartseva-Stewart of Louisville, Jamie Mueller and Kimberley Todd from Marquette, Diana Andreyko of Pittsburgh, and Hui Ping Huang and Viola Leszczynska from BIG EAST regular season champions St. John's.

Nevitt helped the Bearcats to a 22-7 record this fall and a tie for third place in the final BIG EAST standings.
