CINCINNATI, Ohio-- In weather more appropriate for ducks, a misty rain could not deter the University of Cincinnati football team from conducting practice. UC spent 90 minutes in full equipment at Nippert Stadium.
"The thing that I have been the most impressed with is how we are able to blend terminology this team used during the season with some of my thoughts on the offensive system," commented Kelly. "The blending came to a peak and was pretty evident today."
Kelly is combining different approaches with wrinkles of the Bearcats' offense that finished No. 8 in the NCAA in time of possession is being combined with a philosophy that finished 24th in the country in scoring offense at Central Michigan this fall. He presents a more formidable formula when added to a defense that finished ranked 23rd against the pass, 27th versus the runs and 31st in total defense.
The Bearcats return take the Nippert Stadium turf again on Saturday morning for an 8:20 workout. After Saturday's practice, they will be away from Nippert Stadium until Wednesday, Dec. 27.
Cincinnati continues to prepare for their Jan. 6 matchup in the inaugural International Bowl against Western Michigan. Kickoff from Rogers Centre (formerly SkyDome) is slated for 12:00 noon on ESPN2.
